Review: I got these when they were on offer, just to see if they would do what they say. And they do, very well - I had a couple of items attached to drywall via nails or screws. Those seemed to work OK at the time but didn't last long as the holes gradually enlarged spontaneously. These fixings are easy to used - just screw them in until the ratchet slips and it's done. Although you're not supposed to need a hole to start with, these were repairing existing botched fixings so the holes were already there. I think, in future, I would make a small hole anyway, if only to ensure they go in at the exact point I want them to. One thing to remember is that these are intended to take weight vertically. If you use them to hold up, say, a flatscreen then there may be significant horizontal force (multiplying the further the screen is away from the wall). In that case there is nothing that will stop the drywall giving up regardless of what you've used to attach the screen - look up force and levers on Wikipedia if you're not clear why. Used properly these are very good indeed.

Review: The idea is sound but the screws supplied are rubbish and shear off in the plug. I had to drill a small starter hole in the plaster to get the plug to tap into the plasterboard cleanly. I have given up on these and gone over to using the ones that put flap out behind the plaster. No quibble refund from Amazon.
