Review: Hi there, I have recently upgraded my garage security and thought I would try a couple of "disk" padlocks as if bought in conjunction with a horizontal shrouded hasp it totally hides the shackle from attack. The problem is I am now on my third padlock, this one being my third. They just dont give me reliability when opening and closing them day by day. I originally bought 2 of diskus 20/80 off another website but one just went "grounchy" on me so I bought this one as an identical replacement 20/80. This too has now gone "grounchy" on me (in daily use for 2 months), let me explain what I mean. They work fine when you first buy them but after being used day after day the first thing you notice is that the tumblers misalign and you cant get the key all way in when trying to open it so you are there trying to wiggle the key to align the tumblers, a real pain when all you want to do is open the padlock. The other problem is the mechanism is not very fluid after a while, which I mean when you turn the key the shackle resists turning (both opening and closing). I have had a few occasions where I nearly angle grinded the lock off as they were resisting me opening it. I am now in the process of finding a more reliable disk padlock or just use a "normal" high security padlock. Both "failed" padlocks have had a good squirt of 3 in 1 oil and when they still played up I tried WD40. Because I have lost reliability in the padlock I now cant use it in an environment where i need to open and close it without it failing. I did use the second padlock on my bicycle in my shed as if that fails it is not the end of the world. At present I still have one diskus on my garage that works fine (3 months in use), but 2 of them that I have to replace, at £50 a pop I expected better. Both failed padlocks were used outside on an up and over garage door. A padlock, particularly on a garage door which I open and close daily should be reliable and simply open and close with no hassles, sadly I have had many hassles with the diskus 20/80.
