Review: I'm a decorator. I need a ratcheting driver for many things: hinges, door handles, shelves, brackets, the list goes on. My old cheapo one was begging for the sweet release of the bin, mainly due to being abused daily for 5 years. So, I figured I'd upgrade the replacement. Oh boy, this thing is a delight. Genuine happiness each time I use it. The ratchet mechanism is solid, smooth and gives a reassurance that your twisting wrist energy is being transferred smoothly and efficiently. The magnet at the business end is surprisingly strong. I've managed to hold 4 screws on it, and continue to unscrew without them budging. Handy for those little fiddly screws. The best bit- The storage. So clever! Sure, it only holds 6 bits. But truly, how many does one need on a day to day basis? For me it's 4. So this is perfect. The push button and sprung release is brilliant too. Very user friendly, and the least "faffy" storage I've used. No messing with screwtops, or having to poke bits out of slots. The bits themselves are great quality. Even after letting a friend use it to remove worktop brackets that were corroded, the tips showed no damage. Wrecked a few screws though! Length. This is the only point that I'm a little less enthused about. I do like a slightly shorter tool usually- just prefer it in my hand and in the pocket/toolbelt. But. It is very handy having an extra inch clearance, makes those tight squeeze screws a little more accessible. For a daily driver that has such a nice finish and quality, you'd be hard pressed to beat it.

Review: I have a few Bahco handtools and have never been let down by them, i believe Bahco although Swedish in origin are actually owned by Snap On so thats a good pedigree for tools. I wanted a Screwdriver that had a bit compartment built in and ideally a ratchet, so with good reviews and being a Bahco Screwdriver i picked this up. The Good * The screwdriver feels well made the moment you pick it up, the shaft is quite thick compared to a few of the ratchet screwdrivers i looked at or have used in the past, the handle has a nice firm rubberised grip, the top of the grip has a two sided push and slide release for the bit compartment. * I found the bit holder to be just on the right side of tough to release, i wouldnt one that is going to slip out unnecessarily and this feels like its securely fitted. * The bits all appear to be decent quality, ive tried the PH1 and PZ2 so far, no issues. * The ratchet itself has been sound enough in the uses ive had from it thus far, its a reassuring click, there does feel like some play in the action but i think youll find that in most ratchet actions, were the play overly slack i would definitely notice, it doesnt feel like it in this case. * The shaft is a longer length so potentially having a stubby as well might be a good idea, i find using a stubby quickly gives me hand fatigue on jobs so ill probably pick up the equivalent too in a short while. * The bits sit securely in the shaft holder, i havent had any drop outs so far, when you either eventually wear the bits out or more likely lose one on the garage floor they are a standard fitment so you can top up the bit holder insert with replacements no problem. * Ive only had this for a week or so so its not had a lot of use but it feels durable, the action is robust, the shaft compartment doesnt make me worry it will drop out anytime soon. The Could Be Better * The only small room for improvement i would say is the proximity of the bits to each other in the tray. I have a couple of times found myself struggling to get my fat sausage like fingertips inbetween them to leverage one out. That said when i think about it i also struggle to get my fat fingertips probably inserted into a bit tray i have for a Teng Ratchet set so i probably need to lose some weight! Overall i would definitely recommend this, excellent size, comfortable in hand, replaces the need for multiple screwdrivers and so far it appears to be built to last. Buy one and the stubby too and youll never end up searching the house for the right screwdriver again! Five Stars.
