Review: I originally bought a cheaper silver line version of this vice and the quality was very poor!!! I sent it back and bought this. The quality is 100x better!!! Definitely worth the extra money. Very pleased

Review: To my regret I've had two of these. This is not a vice for medium or heavy use. The casting is average at best ,and its pot luck if the jaws on yours meet squarely when closed straight out of the box. Also, on the second one, the handle was bent to about out of the box and I can only assume they packed it like that in the factory as the sealed box showed no signs of impact. These are Chinese made, rough and ready and the cheap iron they use is nothing like the English made Records of old alas and the quality control at manufacture is not what you would expect from Record branded vices. But you get what you pay for at this price. It WILL break if a hammer is used too heavily on the anvil as the castings are partly hollow (As I found out) and God knows why they put an anvil on at all. If you want a bulletproof multi vice then get the Yost 750di as I finally did at twice the price of the Irwin. Its on another level entirely. DON'T be fooled by the Record name here. They disappeared decades ago.Irwin just bought the right to stick the Record logo alongside theirs. This is Chinese design, Chinese iron, Chinese durability. Ideal for the occasional use handy person. For heavier use go Yost.
