Review: Ronseal has always been a top notch brand, and it’s no different with this. This package was returned originally due to being damaged in transport, but I’ve repurchased it in a store so I’m still doing a review. When restoring the dullness of my mums now almost 10 year old table, it came in very handy and very easy to use. We have certainly seen an improvement in the way it looked after and how it brought it back to life. If you don’t want to do it the proper way that is traditionally used, then the wax way will certainly be quick and easy (just be sure to use few coats). Leaves a nice smooth semi glossy look which is nice.

Review: Quite disappointed with this. I used the walnut colour on an "antique pine" stained (but unfinished) wine crate /rack. After the first coat I was regretting it. The liquid gathers and drips, making the coverage inconsistent. The colour came out more like dark (jacobean) oak than walnut. Four coats definitely required (plus touch ups) and the coverage is more consistent after multiple coats - but of course it just keeps getting much darker, which wasn't the plan. Granted the finish is supposed to be "matt" wax, but it really seems like there's not a lot of wax in it, felt more like a very drippy wood stain. Years ago I used Ronseal brushing wax with more success, which I think this is supposed to the replacement for? but it's a poor alternative. On the plus side, it dries quickly and as it's liquid it's good for getting in small spaces (such as wine rack slots) - tinted rub-on wax would have been impossible to use for my project. Wouldn't buy again and with hindsight I wish I'd used something else.
