Review: Love the safe. It fits A4 papers in a folder and plenty of room for other docs. Feels sturdy and like that it can be screwed down. However the instructions included do not adequately show how to set up. Had to rely on a previous Amazon review for that. You need to peel off little rubber logo for key hole then once safe is open press the red reset button next to the battery compartment and hold till it plays a jingle. Can then set a 3-8 digit code. Easy when you know how but instructions don’t mention either step.

Review: Good points. The safe is a good size and I think most households would be able to get all their critical paperwork in there plus a few other bits and pieces. The safe digital controls are of a good size and easy to use and it has an emergency set of keys with what appears to be a high quality key lock in case you forget the combination or in the event that the batteries run out. Do remember not to lock the emergency keys in the safe otherwise you could be in for problems! Now the downside. 1. The actual build standard of the safe itself is not as high as it could be. The door is placed back into the frame which is good but the metal thickness would not stop a crowbar for very long. Hopefully it would slow down or put off the opportunist thief which I guess at this price is fair enough. 2. The battery box and cover is of a very low plastic quality and the screw that secures the cover was missing on my safe. 3. When my safe was delivered I found that removable steel shelf was just left loose to fly about in transit meant that inside of the safe was quite badly scratched up by the time I got it. Not the end of the world but a small bit of bubble wrap / piece of paper around the shelf at the factory would have avoided all this damage and I think for the price this should have been included. 4. The safe door on my particular one does not close smoothly as it catches at the bottom left corner so you have to lift the door slightly when closing which is not ideal. This defect is down to poor workmanship which could have and should have been corrected at the factory. I bought this safe mainly because I trusted the name of Yale but overall I am a bit disappointed with the quality of the thing. I would have been willing to have paid an extra £10 for Yale to have addressed the minor points I raised such as the wonky door and the lack of protection around the shelf which I am sure this would have resulted in their safe getting at least 4 stars from me.
