Review: Had this set for a couple of months. Sharpen mainly with a diamond card scraper. They keep their edge for a long time which means they are most certainly HSS. They make wood turning very enjoyable. It's actually such a bloody great price per tool. They are quality ????. For beginners: Just an FYI I had seen when comparing other brands (not this one). Reviews were saying tools snapped at the neck of the tool when turning. This would be very dangerous. Something I found out while researching lathe tools was that you should never use a spindle gouge for turning a bowl (or other items of a similar idea) as they are not designed for this task. They can break.

Review: Where to start? Box arrived broken, not the end of the world it's only a crappy plywood box.. The gouges themselves? I would imagine Draper have just rebadged some cheap Chinese garbage...like Clarke do . You can see in the picture the split in one of the handles...imagine that letting go at 2000 rpm and sending the gouge through your throat...that would kill you easy enough.. What you can't see in the pictures is the shoddy installation of 5 out of the 6 gouges with none of them being straight or centred, rather they are all at some crazy angle... Seriously do not waste 125 quid on these, if you really must have something as appalling as these save your money and buy a 30 quid Chinese set..as I'm pretty sure that's all these are.. Expected a lot better from draper...but no...just another brand to ignore from now on
